Like the other religious ceremonies in public-Hindu-Balinese, implementation of this ceremony was also aided by a large family of both the bride and the surrounding community.
The word pawiwahan comes from the smaller word wiwaha, which means as one of the live stage of Balinese people, which is called Grhasta. Grhasta itself is a part of Catur Asrama. Catur Asrama consists of Grhasta, Wanaprastha, and Bhiksuka. This ceremony is important because it is not until the completion of the ceremony, that banjars (village), with all teh rights and obligations there of . Wedding are considered a very important part of life for the Balinese, because they are an implementation of yadnya, or a ritual to harmonize the material and the spiritual words. The wedding , or pawiwahan, becomes sacred because it is considered to be a testimony before three very important forms of withnesses; the gods, gods, beings of the underworld, and fellow human beings.
